The magnificent Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge National Park only 30kms from the town plays host to over 200,000 visitors each year and is one of the premier tourist attractions of the Katherine Region. The Nitmiluk Gorge host 2,4 & 8 hour boat tours, canoe hire, hiking, helicopter flights and a visitors information centre.
Other beautiful attractions in Katherine include the ancient Cutta Cutta Caves, Katherine Hot Springs, Jurassic Cycad Gardens, Historical Springvale Homestead and the Katherine River. The Katherine River winds through the centre of town perfect for barramundi fishing, swimming, and canoeing.
There are hotels, motels, numerous caravan parks, backpacker accommodation and a number of proposed developments. The newly renovated Katherine Visitor Information Centre , is where you can find all the tourist information you require for your visit to the Katherine Region.
